Bhubaneswar, Jun 10:
Laxmisagar police today arrested another woman from Santipalli basti in Odisha Capital in connection with the attack on policemen at Haldipadia slum on Monday evening. She was identified as Binati Patra.
Police sources said Binati was arrested while she was trying to escape from the basti towards Bhubaneswar railway station to board a train.
During the brawl with the police personnel, Binati had assisted the lady don Saila Ranasingh in attacking the cops, they said.
Binati is the third person to be arrested in connection with the case. The other two – Mamata Nayak and Jitendra Karad – are now in Jharapada jail here after their bail plea was rejected by a local court yesterday.
Police has registered cases against 24 persons for the attack on the policemen which left five of them, including Laxmisagar IIC Rajat Ray, injured.
Meanwhile Police has intensified its manhunt to arrest Saila, her son Tutu Ranasingh, son-in-law Rajkamal Panda and daughter Pinky Panda.
Police suspects that the accused persons might have fled out of the state. A police team today verified the CCTV footage of Bhubaneswar railway station to get a clue whether they have boarded any train.
