Attack on Bahinipati’s kin: Police take five accused on remand

The five assailants who had  brutally assaulted the brother and nephew of senior Congress leader and newly elected MLA from Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati inside a hotel in Jeypore town in Odisha’s Koraput district on the night on April 10, have been taken on remand by the Town Police on Wednesday.

The five accused—Hrudananda Nayak, Sabyasachi Parida, Sanjay Suna, Chiranjibi Patnaik and Rajendra Sahu—are being interrogated by a special police team led by Additional SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.

The five accused were taken on remand after they were produced in a local court here.

The police after conducting their health check-up later took them to the BSF camp at Koraput.

A senior police official informed that the accused are being interrogated separately.

It may be mentioned here that a gang of seven youths had launched a murderous assault on Tara Prasad’s brother Tuna Bahinipati and nephew Gupta Prasad Mohapatra inside room no-217 of Hotel Madhumati past midnight on April 10 after the conclusion of the first-phase elections.
