Bhubaneswar, Nov 2:
Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha today took out a silent march in Bhubaneswar demanding action against Biju Janata Dal Begunia MLA Prasanta Jagadev for his alleged assault on the woman Tehsildar of Bolagarh.
“During polls this party (BJD) shouts slogans and goes around seeking votes in the name of woman empowerment. They forget to act on their promises once the polls are over. A serving woman Tehsildar was attacked by a ruling party MLA. Why is the Chief Minister silent on this issue? Why is he not taking any action? Prasanta Jagadev has crossed all limits. We want him behind the bars,” said BJP Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida.
“One can understand the failing law and order situation and rising atrocities against women in the state pretty well from this one case. The man who assaulted a woman government officer is an MLA from the ruling party. If a Tehsildar is not safe in this state, how safe you think common women are,” questioned actor turned BJP leader Pinki Pradhan.
In a related development, Nihariaka Nayak – the Tehsildar in question– this evening lodged an FIR against Jagadev with Khordha SP Manoranjan Mohanty in presence of office bearers of the OAS Association.
