Two Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel have been suspended in connection with the assault on a physically challenged man at Balasore railway station in Odisha.


Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has tweeted about the suspension.

“I had taken immediate cognizance of the case,had ordered enquiry.Subsequently,two RPF personnel responsible have been put under suspension,” Prabhu tweeted.

He had yesterday directed the DG (RPF) to probe into the matter.

Notably, a video clip came to fore yesterday in which three policemen and another man were seen hitting the victim with their boots, who was lying on the ground on platform No 4 of the railway station with his crutches.

Partha Sarathi Jena, a social worker from Balia area here, captured the inhuman incident on his mobile phone and shared it with media.

The man was pulled out from a Guwahati-bound train at the railway station on January 3 morning on charges of mobile phone theft on train.
