Odisha’s ace sprinter Srabani Nanda today brought laurel to the country by winning a bronze medal in women 200 meter event by clocking 23.54 seconds in the 21st Asian Athletic Championship at Wuhan in China.
At the individual level this is Srabani’s first senior level international medal at any sporting event.
Odisha Olympic Association (OOA) secretary Asirbad Behera has congratulated Srabani on her achievement and has announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for the sprinter.
Earlier, another Odisha athlete Purnima Hembram had secured her first ever senior International medal by scoring 5511 points in the heptathlon event by bagging bronze medal in the 21st Asian Athletic Championship on Thursday.
