Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Tapas Paul, who has been arrested over his alleged involvement in the Rose Valley Group chit fund scam, underwent a health check-up in the Psychiatric ward of Capital Hospital here today.
Paul had undergone similar checkups in Cardiology, Neurology, and Ophthalmology departments of the hospital in the morning, sources said.
“He has epilepsy and diabetes. But he is fit to face interrogations by the CBI,” said a doctor at the Capital Hospital.
In a related development, Paul’s daughter Sohini Paul today appeared before the CBI here responding to the investigating agency’s notice.
It may be mentioned here that Tapas Paul while working as a director at Rose Valley Group had given appointments to his wife, daughter, and niece in different positions.
Sources said CBI quizzed Sohini on the designation she held at Rose Valley Group and monetary transactions by her during her tenure in the company.
Worth mentioning, Paul is currently under a 3-day remand of the CBI, which is probing into the mega ponzi scam.
He was brought to Bhubaneswar from Kolkata by the CBI on December 31 and produced before the Special CJM CBI court here which granted the investigating agency a 3-day remand of the MP.
The Bengali cine star, who presented himself at the CBI’s regional office in Kolkata on December 30 after being summoned, was arrested on the very day after questioning.
Having cast its net across the states of West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Odisha, Jharkhand and Maharashtra among others, Rose Valley Group is alleged to have illegally raised several thousand crore of rupees from the public.
