Bhubaneswar, Nov 1:
Doctors conducted a health check up of senior BJD leader and Banki MLA Pravat Tripathy, who was arrested by the CBI yesterday for his alleged links with the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group, a major player in the mega chit fund scam in Odisha.
After the check-up, Dr Bansidhar Nayak of the Capital Hospital here said Tripathy’s health condition and his blood pressure were within normalparameters.
However, Tripathy’s counsel Omprakash Ray said his client has health issues following a major surgery two years ago and would need medical attention.
The CBI had earlier informed that it will be seeking a 14-day remand of Tripathy and if required a health check up on him will be conducted at its office here by doctors before he is produced before the court.
On the other hand, Tripathy’s counsel Omprakash Ray said they will be moving the court against the CBI’s plea for taking Tripathy on remand. He said they will be seeking the court’s permission for Tripathy’s further interrogation by the CBI in a hospital.
Sources in the CBI said, the arrested BJD MLA would be forwarded to the court around 3 pm this afternoon.
The three officials of the chit fund firm Nabadiganta Capital Services including its head Anjan Baliarsingh, whose 3-day remand period ended today, would also be produced before the court today, the sources added.
