Ranpur (Nayagarh), Apr 14:

The Ama Odisha Party (AOP) received overwhelming support during a road show in Ranpur Assembly constituency on Sunday.

Thousands of people lined up along the road  from Chandpur to Sararkul as theroad show led by AOP founder president Soumya Ranjan Patnaik made its way campaigning for party candidate in Ranpur Subhashree alias Mili Panda.

Addressing the people, Patnaik, lashed out at the gross misrule of the BJD government and said his party could provide an alternative leadership for the development of Ranpur.

Taking a dig at the BJD candidate Rabi Mahapatra, he asked whose interest the latter was trying to protect in contesting the Assembly election after being elected to the Rajya Sabha.

“As Mahapatra has done nothing for the development of Ranpur as a Rajya Sabha member, he would not be acceptable to the people of this constituency as the BJD Assembly candidate from this constituency”, he claimed.

The BJD had grossly failed to improve the communication network, drinking water supply, poverty and unemployment problems in Ranpur, Patnaik said adding the development in Odisha had come to standstill on account of the corrupt leaders of the ruling party.

“The people of the tribal dominated areas are deprived of their basic rights of livelihood,” he said requesting the people to elect the AOP candidate. He assured the people that his party would always remain with them to redress their grievances and work wholeheartedly to improve their livelihood.

The road show, in which thousands of people took part, began around noon from Chandpur to Ranpur from where it moved to Sunakhala. From there, it reached Darpanarayanpur via Koilama, Binodpada, Lekhanpur and Baunsagada panchayats.

Political analysts are of the opinion that the call of Soumya Ranjan to provide clean administration in Odisha through a political change would create a new political equation in Ranpur.
