Odia cine star Anubhab Mohanty, who had filed his nomination paper for the sole Rajya Sabha seat from Odisha on a BJD ticket, was today elected unopposed to the upper house as no one filed nomination against him.

The returning officer declared that Mohanty has been elected to the Rajya Sabha unopposed.

The two  nomination papers filed by Shyam Babu Subudhi and Ganeswar Mishra had been rejected earlier since they did  not have the requisite number of proposers. The nominations were rejected on June 10.

In his first reaction after being declared elected to the Rajya Sabha, Mohanty said he would work for the state and people and uphold the honour of the state.

  1. It is unfortunate for Odisha and Odias, Mr Naveen Patnaik has converted BJD Party into a Shopping Mall.
