Bhubaneswar, June 9:
Ollywood actor Anubhav Mohanty today filed his nominations as the BJD candidate for the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Odisha for which elections will be held on June 19.
The actor filed his nominations in the presence of chief minister Naveen Patnaik and several other ministers of his cabinet.
Chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik had earlier named Anubhav as the official BJD candidate for the Rajya Sabha seat.
The seat had fallen vacant after AU Singhdeo, who after being elected to the Rajya Sabha, was asked to resign and instead contest the Assembly polls from his old seat Bolangir, which he failed to retain this time.
Naveen’s move to send the political greenhorn, a film actor, over experienced and senior party leaders is believed to have been in line with his plan to sidetrack and eventually weed out all the old guards from the party.
