Kabatbandh(Jajpur), June 21:
A Shivalinga, a Nandi and two Astadhatu ‘Naga‘ (cobra) figures were recovered from river Brahmani on Friday early morning after three local women -Subhadra Pradhan, Lipsa Pradhan and Liza Sahu-stumbled upon them while taking a bath in the river.
While the Shivalinga and Nandi, made of black chlorite stone (locally known as ‘muguni pathara‘), measure 10 inches and 4 inches in height respectively, the figurines of the Nagas which measure 10 inches and 8 inches respectively are made of Astadhatu (a combination of eight metals-gold, silver, copper, zinc, lead, tin, iron and mercury).
The villagers are now worshipping the idols at the Tarini temple in the village.
