Anti-Maoist operations to be intensified in Odisha

Koraput: Hours after Maoist posters were found at Kalyansinghpur Tehsildar office in Rayagada on Sunday, the authorities prepared a strategy to intensify anti-Maoist operations in Left-wing extremism (LWE) districts.

Attending a high level meeting at DIG office here yesterday, senior officers of Odisha police and CRPF decided to strengthen the intelligence department for more inputs and information to foil the Maoists’ plans.

As the Maoists activities in Odisha are somehow under control, the authorities prepared the next strategy to attack the rebels in red corridor.

At the meeting attended by Senior Security Adviser in Ministry of Home Affairs K Vijay Kumar, the officials laid focus on activating the intelligence department along with strategy to attack the Maoists by collecting concrete information about the movements of the red rebels in LWE areas.

As per the decision, Odisha police along with BSF and CRPF will work together towards eliminating the red forces in the state.

The senior officers advised to take initiatives to weaken the Maoist organisations by addressing the drawbacks immediately after reviewing previous meetings held about Maoists’ activities.
