Adding to the number of peasant deaths, another farmer from Bolangir district in Odisha has died today morning while undergoing treatment at the government-run hospital.
Srikanta Selma, the deceased farmer a native of Aenlapalli area under Puintala block allegedly committed suicide due to crop loss and loan burden.
According to reports he had taken a loan of Rs 35,000 from local money lenders to grow vegetables on one-acre land and paddy on his three acre land.
Depressed after suffering from crop loss and heavy loan burden he had consumed pesticide yesterday. He had been admitted to the district hospital in a serious condition. And died today morning while undergoing treatment.
