Angry villagers set fire to Abhiram ashram in Hindol

Odisha Sun Times Bureau
Hindol (Dhenkanal), Sep 3:

Tension ran high at the Abhiram ashram in Paikapurunakot village under Hindol block in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district after villagers set fire to it.

Reports said villagers, who were angry with the Baba over the alleged anti-social activities going on at the ashram for quite some time, found the current wave of revulsion against Babas in the state an opportune time to vent their anger against the ashram.

Scores of villagers ransacked the ashram allegedly constructed on encroached government land and set fire to the wooden doors and windows of the concrete structure.

However, sensing the people’s mood, Brundaban Brahmachari Baba, the head of Abhiram ashram, has given the villagers a slip and is absconding.

One platoon of policemen have arrived at the spot and have brought the situation under control persuading people to refrain from violence while assuring them that the Baba will be arrested very soon.
