Sambalpur, Dec 8:
Tension prevails in the Brooks Hill locality of the western Odisha district headquarters town of Sambalpur as angry parents and guardians thrashed a sports teacher of the government school in the area black and blue accusing him of showing obscene photographs to some girl students of class VI.
Dhanupalli police rushed in to rescue the accused teacher from the wrath of the parents of the girl students and whisked him away to the police station.
The accused sports teacher had allegedly show lurid photographs to girl students of class VI of the government school at Brooks Hill on Monday last and had also made some obscene gestures towards them, reports said.
The teacher had warned the girls against complaining to the headmistress of the school and had tried to molest them, reports said.
However, the students managed to report the matter to the headmistress. On searching the accused teacher’s purse, the teachers’ committee of the school found four objectionable photographs. After being caught, the teacher reportedly begged apology for the incident.
There are also reports that the school authorities had asked the students not to report the matter to their parents.
As the school reopened after the weekend holidays today, angry parents marched into the school, caught hold of the accused teacher and lobbed blows and slaps on him.
The accused teacher could be rescued only after police intervened and took him to the Dhanupalli police station. Parents of the girl students have lodged a written complaint against the teacher with the police and investigations are on.
At the time this report was being written both the accused teacher and parents of the girl students were at the Dhanupalli police station.
