Balangir: An anganwadi worker was abducted by four miscreants in broad daylight in Kantabanji area here in the district today.

The victim was identified as Mukta Panika.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon when Mukta was traveling with her fellow worker identified as Lakshmipriya Nag on a scooter.

According to reports, the four miscreants in masks were chasing two anganwadi workers in an SUV on the road. They kidnapped Mukta and left another one.

Following the incident, her fellow worker rushed to the Kantabanji police station to file a complaint.

“The miscreants were following us in a Bolero near Dhabandanga. At an isolated location, they stopped us. They abducted Mukta leaving me on road,” said Lakshmipriya.

The victim had a love marriage. However, the couple purportedly indulged in heated arguments for a few days.

The locals suspected that the woman might have been kidnapped over that issue.
