Bhubaneswar, June 14:
A joint team of the Odisha Women’s Commission and representatives of the authorities of the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) will inquire into allegations of sexual harassment leveled by five women PG students against a professor.
Five women PG students of the SCB Pathology department have lodged a complaint with the state women’s commission, accusing their departmental professor Sitaram Mohapatra of sexually harassing them over the past few months.
According to the complaint report filed by the five girl students of the Pathology department of the SCBMCH, Prof Mohapatra has been harassing them over the last few months.
They have also alleged that every time they resisted his advances, Prof Mohapatra threatened to spoil their career.
However, Prof Mohapatra has refuted the allegations, saying the women students, who have lodged a complaint against him, were aggrieved because of his tough stance on merit-based assessment of their performances.
However, the ‘victims’ said, an impartial probe into their allegations will be able to expose the ‘dubious’ conduct of their teacher at the SCB Medical College and Hospital.
When contacted, Prof Mohapatra said he was being framed by certain students with a malicious design to denigrate him simply because he was a hard task master.
