Bhubaneswar: After operating international flight to Kuala Lumpur from Bhubaneswar, AirAsia, world’s low cost airline, launched its domestic flight services from Biju Patnaik International airport in Odisha capital to Kolkata and Bengaluru from Tuesday.
The AirAsia domestic flight carrying around 100 passengers took off at 12.15 pm from Biju Patnaik airport to Kolkata, where it landed at 1.15 pm. The flight had departed from Kolkata at 8.10 am and arrived at 9.10 am in Bhubaneswar.
Similarly, another flight of AirAsia airline departed from Bhubaneswar at 9.35 am to Bengaluru, where it arrived at 11.45 am. Again, it took off at 12.10 pm from Bengaluru and landed at 2.30 pm in Bhubaneswar.
The passengers boarded on these flights to and from Kolkata and Bengaluru destinations were given warm welcome at Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneswar.
With operations of two more domestic flights from Bhubaneswar, the total number of flights operated from here reached 27.
Inaugurating the flight services yesterday, Biju Patnaik International Airport Director Suresh Chandra Hota said, “Bhubaneswar has become one of the major airports of the country. Almost all the aviation companies are planning to operate services from Bhubaneswar airport. Apart from providing all types of services to the air passengers, the Bhubaneswar airport authority is also making arrangements to create facilities for operation of more flights services to other locations.”
Currently, the domestic flights are operated to Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Vishakhapatnam from Bhubaneswar.
Earlier, AirAsia had added Bhubaneswar into its list of destinations in India with four weekly direct flights from Kuala Lumpur on April 26.
