Age fudging: BCCI drops five senior women cricketers of Odisha

After the Under-19 cricket players, the age fudging controversy has hit the senior women players from Odisha as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has dropped five players today.


According to sources, the women cricketers—Banalata Mallick, Sushree Dibyadarsini, D Janaki Reddy, Sasmita Mahalik and Pragya Paramita Mohanty— are accused of tampering with the age proof certificates.

Further, there was inconsistency in the age proof furnished by the eves for selection in the junior and senior teams.

A week ago, the BCCI had dropped six players of the under-19 cricket team of Odisha due to mismatch in their date of birth. The players who were been dropped from the team were Suryakant Samal, Harshit Rathod, Khyamasagar Bal, Sooraj Singh and Pratyush Mohapatra.

The cricket board detected mismatch in date of birth proof submitted by these players in last and current season. They were sent home while they were in Jharkhand to participate in the east zone Vinoo Mankad Trophy.
