Bhubaneswar, Jun 28:
Hours after the women’s wing of Odisha BJP staged a demonstration in front of Mahila police station in Bhubaneswar demanding arrest of actor-turned-BJD leader Papu Pom Pom, the women’s wing of state Congress also took out a rally in the city demanding his arrest.
Dozens of party workers set tyres alight on the road in master canteen square blocking it for a while in late afternoon today.
“Congress has taken to the street as the women in this state are not safe. There are very serious allegations against him (Papu). We demand his immediate arrest,” said Congress leader Sasmita Behera.
“Many actors have levelled casting couch allegations against him. This time, it is a minor. Besides, he is a fraudster and it is well known from his association with Oscar chit fund company. These cannot be forgiven,” said a Congress worker.
To add to his trouble, Biju Janata Dal made no attempts to defend him.
“The party will take similar action as it did earlier for indiscipline and other similar accusations. The president of the party will take the right decision at the right time,” opined BJD Spokesperson Pratap Deb.
Apart from political condemnation, trouble intensified for the beleaguered comedian as Commissionerate Police attempted to get hold of him for a questioning session and stones were pelted at his house – allegedly by angry fans.
Interestingly, Papu was nowhere to be seen. According to a source in the police, the cops had to return empty-handed today after he was found to be gone from his house located in Jagannath Vihar area under Khandagari Police limits.
