Bhubaneswar, May 4:
In a unique way to educate children living in slums in Odisha capital, a group of college students has launched a new campaign ‘Adhyayan’ to fulfill deprived children’s dream for their right to education.
The idea came after the college students were worried to see the poor condition of children for which they get deprived of education.
In a survey by ‘Desire Foundation’, the students found that the condition of children in three slums out of seven slums in the city was very miserable.
The foundation surveyed 300 children of 150 families out of which 50 children were selected for getting education under Right to Education Act. They submitted the report to the block education officer at direction of OPEPA Director. Following the initiative, five children will be able to get admission in The Future Bhubaneswar School under education Act. Even, few families have lent helping hand to provide financial aid for these children for their education in the school.
The attempt of college students was not easy affair. They had to approach the parents of the children repeatedly for sending them schools. They have convinced the guardians of children showing them a ray of hope for providing them a better education through financial support.
