Bhubaneswar, Mar 6:
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha Mona Sharma today urged political parties to abide by the model code guidelines of the Election Commission during the two-phase Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state in April.
Presiding over an all-party meeting here, Sharma requested the party representatives to strictly adhere to the poll expense limits specified by the EC.
The CEO made it clear that the Returning Officer (RO) would be well within his rights to reject a nomination if all the information asked for has not been provided by the candidate even after a reminder.
She made it clear that no campaign posters would be allowed inside or on the boundary walls of any educational institution and government office building.
Referring to the duration of the poll campaign, Sharma said the parties are allowed to campaign from 6 AM to 11 PM in the rural areas while in the urban areas, the campaign would start from 6 AM to 10 PM.
The volume of the microphone during the campaign must not exceed 65 decibels, she added.
