Maoists today released the two villagers they had abducted from Gamphakonda area on Wednesday night.
It may be recalled that 30-40 Maoists had raided Gamphakonda village on Wednesday night and had abducted three persons.
After the abductions, a joint team of BSF and DVF jawans launched search operations in the Tundukibatla forested area near Gamphakonda resulting in an exchange of fire between the Maoists and the security personnel for about two hours on Thursday in which one of the abducted villagers managed to escape and a BSF jawan sustained injuries.
The villager who managed to escape had reported that one Maoist had been killed in the exchange of fire while another had been badly injured.
