The ongoing registration of Aadhar in Odisha would be completed by May this year.
Announcing this in the State Assembly here on Tuesday, IT minister Pranab Prakash Das said while Aadhar registration in 29 districts would be completed by March, it will begin in Malkangiri district very soon and will be completed by May this year.
The minister, while replying to a question from BJP member Dilip Ray, said a total of 3,30,39,347 people have been registered under Aadhar by March 8 of which 2,71,15,591 people have been provided with Aadhar number.
Referring to the information from the Census Directorate, he said the first phase registration in 29 districts has been completed while the second and final phase registration in these districts is underway.
He said the first phase registration in Malkangiri district which was stopped mid-way due to some problems, would begin very soon and would be completed by May this year.
“To expedite the process of registration, the state government has opened permanent registration centre at each tehsil”, Das said in his reply.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is the agency of the Central government which is implementing the Aadhaar scheme in the country.
