Of this, 37 acres of land have been identified in the name Trahi Achyuta Ashram while 45 acres belong to Sura Baba and family. Trilochan Mishra, Sura Baba’s elder son, owns 28 out of the 45 acres of land held by his family, crime branch sources said.

While Sura Baba owns one acre of land in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, he has encroached on eight acres more and raised a casuarina (jhaun) jungle on it. The sleuths have also found land acquired in the name of Sura Baba in Kolkata and Bihar, agency sources told OST.

Information about this huge landed property owned by the Baba was extracted from Trilochan during his interrogation while he was in Crime Branch remand for three days till today.

At the end of his remand period, Trilochan was sent to Jharpada special jail here after the crime branch produced him at Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court here today.

This was his third period of three-day remand. Earlier, the Crime Branch had taken him, along with his father and younger brother Biranchi Narayan on two back-to-back remand lasting six days.

On September 7, Crime Branch had sought and got a remand only for Trilochan since he used to look after the financial transactions and run the myriad business ventures of the Baba and the Trust headed by him, agency sources said.

Crime Branch officials investigating land encroached by Sura Baba at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district have filed a petition in the court to take Sura Baba and his two sons on remand to interrogate them in the case, sources in the crime branch said.
