Bhubaneswar, Sep 16:
Nearly 80,000 students participated in the first phase state level competition-2013, jointly organized by the ‘Sambad’ and ‘Ama Odisha’, which concluded on Sunday. The competition was held at 340 centres in the state.
The drawing competition was held among students from Class I to V while students of Class VI and VII participated in the handwriting competition. Students from Class VII to X participated in the Odia vocabulary and essay competitions.
Of the total number of participants, about 22,000 students participated in drawing competition, 26,000 in handwriting competition and 38,000 in Odia vocabulary and essay competition.
The one-hour competition was concluded at 10 am.
The successful participants were later awarded after a spot evaluation at the respective centres.
Students securing first, second and third position in their respective category are now eligible to participate in the final round.
Editor of Sambad and chairman of Ama Odisha Soumya Ranjan Patnaik congratulated the participants, guardians and the staff of all schools for the smooth conduct of the competition.
The zone-wise debate and Saregama competitions would be held on September 22 at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul, Baleswar, Sambalpur, Brahmapur, Rourkela and Jeypore in which college and university students will participate.
Students, willing to participate in the competition, will have to apply by September 18.
