7 held in Odisha for illegal cattle trade

Bargarh, July 30:

Local police in Odisha’s Bargarh town today arrested seven persons on charges of smuggling cattle to neighbouring state of Jharkhand, police sources said.

Acting on a tip off Bargarh Sadar police arrested seven persons, seized three pick-up vans and rescued 21 cattle heads being transported illegally from Jaring in Bargarh distict to Khagsian in neighbouring Jharkhand at Haldipalli village.

While the seven arrested have been forwarded to court the rescued cattle have been kept at the local Gopal Goshala, said Kanak Kumar Majhi, SI, Sadar police station.
