Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said over 67, 000 people had been evacuated from vulnerable areas of the state ahead of Cyclone Hudhud crossing into land and moved to safe shelters.
“67, 752 people have been evacuated in Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Puri, Kendrapada and Khurdha districts to 604 safe shelters. We are constantly monitoring the situation and taking all possible precautions,” said Patnaik after presiding over a attending a review meeting on the cyclone situation at the SRC office here.
Meanwhile, heavy rain has lashed out many parts of the state while strong wind is blowing in the southern districts of the state.
