Brahmapur, Nov 19:
Debit card holders are having a difficult time in Ganjam district with over 60 ATMs of different banks lying defunct after they got damaged after cyclone Phailin hit the area . These are yet to be repaired, official sources said on Tuesday.
Sources in the banking industry said while 22 are defunct due to V-Sat problems, 24 are not working due to both software and hardware problems and 16 do not function because of there is no power in the area.
The district has a network of 223 ATMs which are operated by nationalized, private and cooperative banks.
The district administration reviewed the status of the ATMs Monday.
According to Lead district manager (LDM), Ganjam, B Khuntia the district administration has already taken up the matter with Southco and BSNL and he was hopeful that all ATMs will start functioning soon.
