57 % IPS posts lying vacant : CM

OST Bureau
Bhubaneswar, Dec 3:

Out of a total of 188 sanctioned posts of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers in Odisha, more than half of them are lying vacant.

Replying to a question from Anant Das in the State Assembly here on Monday, chief minister Naveen Patnaik said apart from 20 IPS officers who are currently under Central deputation, one IPS officer who is now on study leave and three IPS officers who are under training, a total of 78 IPS officers are currently working in the state.

He, however, said that though there are 57 senior state police officers under Odisha Police Service for promotion to the IPS cadre, the vacant posts have not been filled up as these officers are not eligible for promotion as per the existing rules.
