The government of Odisha runs 71, 306 anganwadis. However, only 22085 of them operate out of their own premises. A massive 49, 221 anganwadis don’t even have a place of their own to work from.
“A total of 1718810 children aged between 3 to 6 have been enrolled in these government approved child care cum educational homes. These anganwadis are run out of school campuses and community centres in the absence of their own building,” said the minister for Women and ild Welfare Usha Devi in reply to a question of MLA Duryodhan Majhi in the state Assembly on Wednesday.
