Bhubaneswar, Dec 22:
Another 45 migrant labourers have been rescued from Sinapali in Nuapada district during raids on Sunday, said labour department officials.
Earlier, in the day 31 such workers were rescued near Khariar when police intercepted the four multi-utility vehicles in which they were travelling, on their way to a railway station.
The number of migrant labourers rescued from the clutches of middle men on Sunday stands at 76, according to labour department sources.
As many as over a thousand migrant labourers have been rescued from different locations in western Odisha in the last one week during raids by government officials following the shocking incident on December 16 when a middleman (labour contractor) chopped off the palms of two migrant labourers after they refused to go with them.
