The Odisha government issued a notification late on Thursday evening bringing in 399 high schools and 39 Madhyama schools under the purview of the grant in aid (GIA) policy as per the decision of the inter-ministerial committee.
The decision, which will come into effect from October 1 this year, will benefit a total of 5,074 teachers and employees in the state.
These schools will get 40% grants and the government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 25 crore, informed Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister for School and Mass Education here today.
“As per the recommendation of the inter-ministerial committee, a notification was issued by the School and Mass Education department to bring in 399 high schools and 39 Madhyama (Sanskrit Toll) schools totaling 438 schools under the purview of the GIA policy late in the evening yesterday after it was duly approved by the departments of Finance and Planning a & Coordination. More than 4,700 teachers will benefit. The expenditure on this account will be around Rs 25 crore since these schools are eligible for 40% grants as per the grant in aid policy of the government,” Mishra said here today.
