Odisha Special DG Sanjeev Marik along with twin city Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr R P Sharma and other senior police officials today reviewed the police bandobast inside and outside the Assembly.

Out of the total 33 platoons police force, three platoons will guard the Assembly premises. A police officer of the deputy commandant rank, 15 DSP) rank officers, 78 SIs andASIs and 18 lady constables will be on duty on the inner and outer security rings.

The whole operation will be controlled by the CP and DCP Bhubaneswar.

Special check points at strategic locations such as Soochana Bhawan, Lower PMG, Rabindra Mandap and MLA colony have been set up to check the vehicles coming towards Assembly, Special DG Marik said.

The major focus of the police would beon the Mahatma Gandhi Marg (MGM) where demonstrations and rallies are held. To prevent the possibility of protesters breaking the security cordon and marching towards the Assembly, multi-layered barricades have been erected on this important road.

“We have installed electronic boom barriers at the three entrance and exit points of the Assembly to check vehicles. Earlier security forces used to manually stop and check vehicles,” said a police officer.

A control room has been set up at the Assembly premises to manage the security operation round the clock, he added.
