Jajpur: In a tragic incident, at least four persons died and six others sustained injuries after a pickup van in which they were travelling collided head-on with a truck on NH-53 near Baghua Chhak under Jenapur police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district this morning.
According to reports, the ill-fated van carrying 10 persons was on the way towards Chandikhol from Duburi. A truck, after unloading iron ore in Paradip, collided against the van near Baghua Chhak killing four persons and leaving six others injured.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Ram Chandra Swain of Betamari village under Dharmasala police limits and Basant Sahu of Achhikunda village under Jenapur police limits.
The injured ones were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The driver of the truck went absconding after the accident. Tension erupted at the spot after the mishap as locals blocked the road.
On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the bodies for post-mortem and started investigation.
