Keonjhar: At least four persons died and three others sustained critical injuries after the car in which they were travelling collided against a roadside tree on Karanjia-Anandapur road near Bankhidi in Odisha’s Keonjhar district this morning.
According to reports, the mishap took place around 6 am while the victims, residents of Salabani and Sainkula villages under Anandapur police limits in the district, were returning home in a car after attending wedding of their relative’s daughter at Khuntapasi village in Thakurmunda area.
The driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control over the wheels following which it rammed into a roadside tree killing four on the spot and injuring three others.
The deceased have been identified as Manorama Tripathy, Chinna Panda, Baikuntha Panda and Laxmipriya Panda.
The injured ones, identified as Raghunath Panda, Manas Panda and Ganeswar Mishra, were admitted to Anandapur hospital after being rescued by locals and police. They were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for better treatment.
