Bhubaneswar, Aug 27:
At least four BSF jawans were killed and two more critically injyred when a powerful land mine blast ripped apart the vehicle in which they were travelling at Ralegada on the the Sunki Ghati on National Highway No 26 this morning, Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra told OST.
The two injured jawans are being shifted to Vishakhapatnam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
The jawans belonging to the 161 battalion of the BSF were going from Koraput to Vishkhapatnam when the blast occurred near a culvert. Two more vehicles, carrying six jawans each, escaped the attack. The ill fated vehicle was the last in the convoy.
Tuesday’s land mine blast is said to be the first triggered by Maoists on a national highway in the state.
