Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare department officials have seized over 350 empty LPG cylinders from the community hall of Chandanpur village under Bantala police station jurisdiction in Odisha’s Angul district.
According to reports, the department has sealed the community hall after seizing the LPG cylinders.
Moreover, department officials have also seized about ten empty LPG cylinders found scattered in a forest near the village.
That apart, local people have allegedly taken away around 60-70 empty LPG cylinders from the community hall.
The department has also sealed the warehouse of an LPG dealer-Maa Budhi Gas Agency of Angul.
A villager Anil Sahu had allegedly kept the cylinders in the community hall yesterday following series of raids on LPG dealers in the district in the last few days.
As news spread about the storage of LPG cylinders in such large numbers in the village community hall the department had raided the place today.
It may be mentioned here that the department had seized 73 LPG cylinders from one Sudhakar Sahu’s house in Changudia village under Chhendipada police limits in the district yesterday.
The department is investigating the matter.
