3 Odisha girl students made to work at teacher’s field at Rs 100/day

Baripada: In a shocking incident, a woman teacher of a school in Thakurmunda area of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district reportedly engaged three girl students at her field to work there and paid them Rs 100 per day.
According to reports, Sangita Sarita Munda, a teacher of Ghulughulia UGUP school in the district, took three girl students of Class-VII, all belonging to tribal community, to her village at Tanheipala under Anandpur block in Keonjhar district and made them work at her field for three days. She also paid each of them Rs 100 per day for their work.
As the teacher returned school along with the students, tension erupted as parents and locals locked the main gate of the school protesting the incident. Normalcy returned after Munda apologized for her act.
An inquiry has been initiated in the matter after the higher authority was informed about the incident.
