The police have arrested three women Maoists belonging to the Sabyasachi Panda-led Odisha Maovadi Party (OMP) during a combing operation inside Sukhi forest under Mohana block in Gajapati district this morning, DIG of Southern Range Amitabh Thakur said today.
Briefing newsmen at the District Police headquarters here, DIG Amitabh Thakur said the three arrested Maoists have been identified as Nikita Majhi, Tadingi Majhi and Sukanti Majhi.
Nikita is believed to have been a leading cadre of the OMP.
DIG Thakur said the police have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition and cash from their possession.
“The security men have seized three 9mm and two 2mm pistols, one tiffin bomb, 13 magazines, one AK-47 rifle, four Self Loading Rifles (SLRs), two INSAS rifles and cash worth Rs 10.5 lakh from their possession”, he said, adding that the interrogation of the three arrested Maoists are underway.
The police are looking for Sabyasachi Panda and three of his associates are who are still at large.
