According to reports, the three Maoists—Muka Kunjami, Mukund Sodi and Muruda Kunjami—arrived at the district police headquarters in the morning and surrendered before the superintendent of police (SP) Mitrabhanu Mohapatra.

Talking to the media, the SP said the three Maoists were members of the Padia Dalam of which Muka and Mukund have more than 20 cases registered in different police stations in the district.

The state government had announced a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on the duo, he added.

The Maoists who surrendered said they decided to join the mainstream of society after realising that the Maoists had moved far away from their professed ideology.
