The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela is all set to organize 23rd Annual Convention of National Academy of Psychology (NAOP) at its campus beginning December 13 this year.
The convention will continue till December 15.
The theme of the 23rd Annual Convention of NAOP is “Psychology in the Service of Humanity: Theory, Technology and Applications” and is aimed at providing an opportunity to the researchers and practitioners of psychology to examine how the rapid technological advancements has not only influences the material conditions of Indian societies, but also affects the tools of inquiry that the psychologists use in the laboratory and outside, to study human mind and behavior, said RK Sinha, Secretary, Public Relation of the Institute in a press release today.
Prof. Bhaswati Patnaik & Prof Ramakrishna Biswal, conveners of this conference, informed that NIT, Rourkela is the first institute in India among all NITs to host the Annual Convention of NAOP.
Prof Sunil Kumar Sarangi, Director of NIT Rourkela will be the Chief Guest in the inaugural ceremony of this convention, the release said.
This year around 300 participants comprising students, scholars and experts from the country and abroad are expected to take part in the convention which the organisers said will provide a platform for exchange of information and discussion on a wide variety of topics, representing the latest developments and future trends in Psychology.
Different sessions such as divisional keynote addresses, invited lectures, symposia, pre-conference workshops, oral and poster presentations are expected to offer enriching learning experiences to the participants and a sense of fulfillment for the experts in the field.
Awards for best papers and dissertations presented in the conference will, as always, be one of the attractions of the Annual Conventions of NAOP, the release added.
NAOP is the largest organization of psychologists in India which represents India in the International Union of Psychology and other international forums.
