The state government has procured 3.58 lakh metric tonne paddy from over 53, 000 farmers in the kharif season, said Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Sanjay Dasburma here today after a review meeting.


“For the ongoing Kharif season, paddy procurement has begun in nine districts. Around 67 blocks and urban local bodies have participated in it. As many as 255 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) are engaged in the procurement. As of now, 3.58 lakh metric tonne paddy worth Rs 525 crore has been procured. The farmers have been paid around Rs 409 crore through online payment system,” Minister Sanjay Dasburma said.

Notably, demonetization has its impact on the farmers in the state as they are facing difficulties in withdrawing the money.
