The Commissioning of electronic voting machines (EVMs) for the Kandhamal Lok Sabha by-election scheduled on October 15, ended at the Nayagarh Autonomous College in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Tuesday.
In the two-day exercise, 233 EVMs were commissioned, of which 142 EVMs were commissioned on the first day and 91 EVMs were commissioned on the second day by the engineers of Bharat Electronic Corporation in the presence of assistant returning officer and Nayagarh ADM Rabindranath Sahu and tehsildars of Daspalla constituency.
Of the 233 EVMs, 221 would be used in the voting while the remaining 12 EVMs would be kept in reserve.
During the commissioning, a total of three EVMs were found defective.
These three EVMs would be replaced by the three reserved EVMs, informed the assistant returning officer.
