Malkangiri, Oct 10:
Former Odisha MP and Congress leader Pradip Majhi today levelled serious allegations of 23 Japanese Encephalitis (JE) afflicted children having gone missing from the district headquarters hospital here.
Alleging that there was no information available on the whereabouts of these children, the former Congress MP from Nabarangpur threatened to lodge FIRs against the Health Minister and the departmental secretary in the event of no information being made available about the whereabouts of these children within 24 hours.
“While the government is reviewing the situation over Japanese Encephalitis at the State Secretariat, our tribal children are going missing one after another. Now I would like to ask the government where these 23 children have gone. If they had tested positive for the disease why they were not prevented from leaving the hospital?” asked Majhi.
“The government is claiming that 42-43 children have died of Japanese Encephalitis in Malkangiri. We have information that around 100 children have died of the disease in the district,” Majhi alleged.
“We want to know the whereabouts of these missing children. Where have they gone? Whether they are dead or alive? If we don’t get answers within 24 hours we will file criminal case against the Health Minister and Health secretary. We will lodge FIR against them. We will demand their arrest,” the former MP said.
Majhi claimed to have evidence on 23 Japanese Encephalitis afflicted children having gone missing from the district headquarters hospital here.
He said he had an audio clip of a conversation between the ADMO and another official of the hospital in this regard.
