Bhubaneswar: Gearing up for the upcoming General and Assembly polls in Odisha, the All India Congress Committee’s Screening Committee today started taking inputs from party leaders on selection of probable candidates for Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies in the state.
The process will continue for three days and conclude on February 15. While Screening Committee Chairman V D Satheesan arrived at the Congress Bhawan here for the purpose, Screening Committee member Naushad Solanki reached Berhampur in this regard. Solanki is also scheduled to visit Jeypore on February 14 and 15.
“Candidates will be selected on the basis of winnability criteria. Preferences will be given to youths and women,” said Niranjan Patnaik, President, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee.
The list of the selected candidates will be sent to the Central Election Committee of the party for approval. The names of the candidates will be declared by the end of this month, party sources said.
