+2 evaluation: Odisha govt suspends agitating teacher

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today toughened its stand against teachers boycotting evaluation of +2 examination papers by suspending one such teacher of Dhenkanal Anchalika Mahavidyalaya.

The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) today issued a memo to Dhenkanal Anchalika Mahavidyalaya authorities to suspend Mayadhar Sahu, a lecturer in the History department of the college for failing to join evaluation centre, an official in the know of things said.

Moreover, the DHE has issued show cause notice to about 2,000 teachers, who have not joined work at evaluation centres, the official added.

On the other hand, undeterred by the State government’s action, the All Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum has remained rigid in its stand. The Forum has told the government in clear terms to first fulfill its demands after which teachers would take up evaluation of exam papers.

Though first phase evaluation of +2 examination papers entered the ninth day  today less than 40 percent answer-sheets have been evaluated, the official said.
