2 die, 9 injured as SUV rams into tree in Odisha’s Bhadrak

In a tragic incident, at least two persons died and nine others sustained critical injuries when an SUV in which they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree near Bhandaripokhari in Odisha’s Bhadrak district in the wee hours of Monday.


The deceased were identified as Dhania Singh and Mamata Mandal of Maitapur area in Balasore district. The injured have been admitted to Bhadrak hospital.

According to reports, the accident took place when all of them were returning home after visiting Duga Puja pandals in Cuttack. The driver of the ill-fated car lost control over the wheels at Palada Chhak in Bhandaripokhari as a result of which the vehicle dashed into a roadside tree.

While Dhania died on the spot, Mamata succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The injured were rescued and admitted to Bhadrak hospital. Three of them were later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack after deterioration in their condition.
