Umerkote, Jun 30:
All 18 Congress activists barring former Odisha MP Pradip Majhi have withdrawn their hunger strike at the Umerkote Sub Jail on its fifth day, informed jail authorities.
These activists including Majhi were on hunger strike since June 26.
Sources said Majhi’s condition to be critical.
It may be noted here that Majhi and 18 other Congress workers were arrested on Saturday (June 26) for allegedly beating up the Raighar Forest Ranger and ransacking the department’s Range office at Raighar during a demonstration demanding land pattas for tribals of Raighar under the Forest Rights Act and ration cards to eligible poor beneficiaries.
