17 illegal structures demolished in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, July 30:

As part of its ongoing demolition drive in the Odisha capital, a joint team of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), General Administration (GA) department, Odisha State Housing Board (OSHB) and Commissionerate Police today demolished several illegal structures and cleared about 1.5 acres of land encroached by some outsiders at Jagamara here.

The land was allotted to OSHB for development of a housing project measuring an area of 1.720 acres out of which more than 1.5 acres of land had been encroached upon by some outsiders, informed BDA Liaison Officer Subhranshu Mohanty.

The eviction drive hasd been undertaken at the request of Secretary, OSHB and as per the decision taken at the meeting of the City Enforcement Monitoring Committee (CEMC) held recently, he said.

Illegal structures, including 17 houses and 1 cowshed built on OSHB land, were demolished today, he added.

Zonal ACP and IIC of Khandagiri police station, with two platoons of police forces and one section of lady police, were present at the site to maintain law-and-order during the demolition drive.
